On Friday, September 19, BRAVE Combat Federation will once again plant its flag in China, staging a blockbuster showcase at the iconic Henan TV Studio 8 in Zhengzhou, with BRAVE CF 98.
The much-awaited event marks the promotion’s third collaboration with YFU, a landmark partnership aimed at elevating China’s immense martial arts heritage onto a global stage.
For BRAVE CF, the return to China is more than just another entry in its ever-expanding international calendar — it’s an opportunity to bring out the best of a nation whose martial arts roots run deeper than any other.
The country is widely recognized as one of the birthplaces of combat sports, with the origins of organized martial arts stretching back some 4,000 years. From Sanda to Kung Fu, more than 60 unique fighting styles have emerged from China, shaping not only its own culture but also influencing disciplines across the globe.
Now, with MMA standing tall as the fastest-growing sport in the world, BRAVE CF seeks to provide Chinese athletes the same platform that helped propel global icons like Khamzat Chimaev, Ilia Topuria, Benoit St. Denis, and Muhammad Mokaev into superstardom.
“This upcoming card will feature everything from a world title showdown to the emergence of future Asian MMA superstars — athletes with the potential to become the next Khamzat Chimaev or Ilia Topuria,” said BRAVE CF President Mohammed Shahid.
“On September 19, MMA fans around the globe will have the chance to see China’s finest talents on display.”
One such talent is China’s own “The Stalker” Xie Bin. After making waves on some of the sport’s biggest stages, he will finally make his BRAVE CF debut in the co-main event of BRAVE CF 98, locking horns with Zimbabwe’s former BRAVE CF Bantamweight World Champion Nicholas Hwende in a can’t-miss Featherweight showdown.
Alongside him, a lineup of seven supporting bouts will shine the spotlight on emerging Chinese fighters, each eager to test their skills against top-tier international opponents.
This is the essence of BRAVE CF’s mission: to give fighters the ultimate benchmark. Unlike promotions that emphasize marketability or language, BRAVE CF has built its reputation as the best scouting program in the sport with its simple but profound motto: “If you’re good enough, you’re good enough to fight for BRAVE CF.”
The timing couldn’t be more significant. While rival promotions have tiptoed around the Chinese market, no international organization has consistently committed to growing MMA in the country.
“Our goal in every market we enter has always been to help develop MMA as an industry, and China is no exception,” Shahid emphasized. “With our third event taking place in the country, I am confident we will soon witness tremendous growth for the sport here.”
With millions of practitioners scattered across the nation and an audience base yearning for consistent high-level action, China remains the sleeping giant of MMA. BRAVE CF 98 could very well be the wake-up call.
