I need to fight in Mauritius African fighters eager to compete at home as BRAVE CF returns to the continent

Mar 09, 2024

The announcement of BRAVE Combat Federation’s return to Africa is garnering the attention of the promotion’s local fighters.

The most global MMA organization in the world will be back in Africa on May 11 for its debut event in Mauritius and fourth overall show in the continent, underlining its status as the only international promotion to host events in the continent of Africa.

Mauritius will become the third African country to host BRAVE Combat Federation after South Africa and Morocco marking a milestone moment in African MMA.

The African fighters have taken a special interest in the event announcement and some of them are eager to be part of this historic fight card.

DR Congo’s Eliezer Kubanza, who earlier expressed his desire to have a busy 2024 noted that it would be a dream come true for him to fight in Africa under the BRAVE CF banner. Kubanza is currently 5-0 in his professional MMA career and won both his fights in BRAVE CF via KO.

“To be able to come back to Africa after two fights in Bahrain and show my people all the things I am doing and what I am working on is a dream come true. My people are going through a hard time. It’s important to me to show them that I am out there to make them proud. I have a very set plan towards the world title and beating a big name in Africa will help immensely. So, yes, I have been bugging everyone to get on that card, and to get a big-name opponent as well, because BRAVE CF returning to Africa is a big deal, and it deserves a big card. And no card is complete without King Kong!,” Kubanza said.

Another name that is eager to make a mark in BRAVE CF’s return to Africa is Nicholas Hwende. The Zimbabwean star made his title aspirations clear by claiming that he can beat the Bantamweight champion and fellow African Nkosi Ndebele if given a chance.

''I know it's likely Nkosi will fight on that card, and I want to fight on that same card, because I also want to be the back-up for whoever's fighting him for the title. I know I can beat him, and to be crowned champion in Africa, would be amazing. I need to fight there, there's no two ways about it, really. Give me anyone, and I will run through them. And, Nkosi, I'll see you real soon! Sooner than you think,” Hwende noted.

Alongside names like Kubanza and Hwende, Fighters from 12 African nations have so far fought inside the BRAVE CF cage and as the organization gears up for another event in Africa, it is guaranteed to serve as a huge boost for the sport in the region.
