Mohamed “L'Ambiance” Said Maalem turned back the perception of time at BRAVE CF 106 last June 6, delivering a statement victory that reinforced a singular truth in combat sports: age is just a number when willpower refuses to fade.
Inside the electric atmosphere of Hala Tivoli in Ljubljana, Slovenia, the 42-year-old Algerian-Swiss powerhouse shattered expectations by dethroning Erko “The Bounty Hunter” Jun in their highly anticipated rematch to become the new BRAVE CF Light Heavyweight World Champion.
“It felt like an unforgettable night that I will carry with me forever. Every sacrifice, every setback, every doubt led me here,” Said Maalem recalled.
From the opening bell, Said Maalem was met with relentless urgency as Jun attempted to impose his reign with sharp leg kicks and explosive spinning attacks targeting the body.
The early exchanges painted a familiar narrative, one where youth and momentum appeared to be tilting the scale. Yet “L’Ambiance” remained unshaken, absorbing punishment with veteran composure and refusing to surrender the rhythm of the contest.
As the rounds unfolded, experience began to eclipse explosiveness. Said Maalem gradually closed the distance, neutralizing Jun’s striking bursts and steering the bout into his preferred realm.

The decisive shift came in the fourth round when Said Maalem broke through with a punishing sequence that visibly rocked June. He immediately followed the Bosnian to the canvas, where control turned into conquest.

“It was now or never for me in there. I refused to walk away without leaving everything behind in that cage,” Said Maaelm stated.
With the victory, Said Maalem also entered the sport’s record books as the second-oldest male World Champion in major MMA history.
At 42 years and 8 months old, “L’Ambiance” surpassed Glover Teixeira, standing only behind Hall of Famer Randy “The Natural” Couture in the all-time ranking of age-defying titleholders.
“Age should never be a limitation when you are chasing what you truly believe in. If the dream is real, the body will follow,” he said.
For the newly crowned BRAVE CF Light Heavyweight World Champion, the message is unmistakable. He is living proof that barriers are often illusions.
“Impossible is not a word that exists in my vocabulary. I am here to show that anything is possible,” Said Maalem declared.
